Board of Director¡¯s Meeting Sept. 13, 2010


CALL TO ORDER:  Diane Sachs called the meeting to order at 6:05 PM.  Members present were:  Louise Sperr, Diane Sachs, Steve Sulzby, Mary Thomas, Sue Fardette, Sherry Troeger, Betty Jackson, Fern Dunbar, and John Killian.  Absent were Cooie Dampman, Sharon Beran, Larry Slutsky, and Kevin Lane.


MINUTES:  Minutes were accepted after corrections: There was no vote to ask Baum if he wants us to call people who have not been to the Bridge Center for a long time.   We are stamping awards until the current supply runs out.  The potluck is in December, not October.


CORRESPONDENCE/HOSPITALITY:  Mary sent cards to Richard Barrack and Doris Richardson.  $21.26 was sent to the Womenshelter.


TREASURER¡¯S REPORT:  Betty reported that we had a profit of $79 from the Unit game.  Our checkbook balance is $10,038.84.


SANCTONS/MEMBERSHIP:  Diane has obtained sanctions for the remainder of the year.  Some people do not keep up with their dues after becoming a life master.  Any change of status will not be recognized in the future if their dues have not been paid.

REFRESHMENTS:  Sherry will ask April to make chicken rather than jambalaya.


SECTIONAL:  Steve reported that Ken Dirchner will provide tables but not chairs.  Steve has a contract with a company for the chairs.  Tables will cost $1.75 per session.  He will deliver them.  Members will bring in treats.  Fern will put up a signup list.




AWARDS:  No report. 


PUBLICITY:  No report.


OLD BUSINESS:   Fern will put up flyers to advertise the ¡°Eight is Enough¡± game.  Fern moved that we have only team games on that day, no backroom game.  The motion failed. 


NEW BUSINESS:  Diane asked that we recruit members for the board.  ACBL wants us to get sanctions for the sectionals for the next two years.  Sherry made a motion to get these sanctions.  It was seconded by John.  Motion passed.    The 2011 sectional will be Nov. 11th, 12th, and 13th.   The 2012 sectional will be Nov. 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th.                                      


ALACBU:  Betty had a discipline problem to report, but did not wish to give the name.  She will report this to the owners and managers of the bridge clubs that this person is not to be allowed to play.


ADJOURNMENT:  The meeting was adjourned at 6:52 PM.   The next board meeting will be on Oct. 4th..
