Board of Director’s Meeting

January 8, 2007

 

CALL TO ORDER: President Steve Sulzby  called the meeting to order at 6:02 pm.  Members present were:  Steve Sulzby, John Killian, Carol Murakoshi, Barbara Balowitz, Frank Bartlett, Irma Johnson, an00d Jan Wagner.  The board welcomed new member, Sue Fardette.  Excused were:  Frank Seipp Jr., Merlin Hansen, Mark Tang, Diane Sachs, and Donna Wenberg. 

 

MINUTES:  Barbara Balowitz moved to accept the last minutes as read.  Irma Johnson seconded.  Motion carried.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:   No report

 

CHARITY/HOSPITALITY:  Barbara Balowitz reported that she collected $18.00 from both boxes.  No cards were sent last month.  Cards will be sent to Jo Daigle’s husband, Irwin Bender’s wife and Doris Richardson. 

 

SANCTIONS:  No report

 

REFRESHMENTS:  We will have a potluck luncheon at the Feb. 11th Unit Game.  Irma Johnson volunteered to make a sign up sheet and post it at the Bridge Center.  Jan Wagner and Sue Fardette volunteered to coordinate the March 11th Unit Game.

 

PUBLICITY, EDUCATION, AWARDS:  No reports.

 

IN COORDINATOR:  Steve Sulzby reported that Mark Tang will be the new IN Coordinator and take over the IN class sessions on Tuesday afternoons at noon.  Frank Seipp Jr. will be Mark’s assistant.

 

MEMBERSHIP REPORT:    Irma Johnson reported the latest In & Out stats from ACBL for the period 11/30/06 through 1/01/07:

There were three new members, two transfers in and no relevant changes of status this period.

 

OLD BUSINESS:   Instead of having our Installation Dinner on February 3rd at Barbara Balowitz’s home,  the Board decided that we would go to Kobe Steak House in Seal Beach instead. Barbara would prefer a summer potluck at her home where she would then be able to accommodate all of the members and guests.

 

NEW BUSINESS:   Steve made the following appointments for 2007:

Frank Bartlett made a motion to have the unit subsidize a game in January whereby an extra dollar will be charged and donated to the ACBL Youth Fund.  The Bridge Center will choose a game and will announce it to the membership.  Jan Wagner seconded.  Motion carried. 

 

ADJOURNEMENT:  Barbara Balowitz made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Frank Bartlett seconded.  The meeting was adjourned at 6:57 pm.  The next monthly meeting will be on Monday, February 12th, 2007 at 6:00 pm.
